Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The overall structure is broadly effective; however, support and guidance for degree apprentices is currently insufficient. Placement managers often expect apprentices to be fully productive from day one without first assessing their existing knowledge and experience. This can leave apprentices feeling anxious about failing and less confident in speaking up.
Stronger communication is needed between Early Careers and placement managers. In addition, managers should receive clear training and guidance on how to effectively support and develop apprentices. Probation expectations should also be more clearly defined, with transparent criteria for passing or failing, and mechanisms to challenge instances where inadequate managerial support may be preventing apprentices from performing at their best.
