Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Day-to-day, being an Apprentice Travel Advisor at TUI includes serving customers, welcoming them into our stores, answering any phone calls and responding to any customer emails or enquiries we may pick up. We also have the majority of Travel Advisors across our stores trained in Travel Money; selling foreign currencies to internal and external customers. Not only do we book holidays - we can also sell Travel Insurance, Holiday Extras and many Tour Operators such as Royal Caribbean Cruises along with our TUI Holidays.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme a lot, I have made many new friends at TUI and have really treasure most days at work with my colleagues. Much of the time, you receive high job satisfaction from booking customers' dreams holidays or assisting them with something they are struggling with or would like assistance with.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes - this role gives you great experience. You will learn a lot within this apprenticeship, I found my job role to form me into a more confident person. Concentration is needed at times, especially when selling Insurance and Travel Money. If you are looking to start your career in travel or customer service, this is a great way to start.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel my programme is well structured. I know what training I need to do and when, and also enjoy frequent reviews with my managers and my apprentice assessor. We are made familiar with the end point process of our apprenticeship and also are made aware of targets we need to aim for to receive the best grade possible.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. If we have any questions we are able to reach our apprentice assessors by Teams chat and also speak with any expert in the region if we had any questions our managers couldn't help with. Frequent support and check ups are given from managers
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A lot of support is received from our training provider. Much of our apprenticeship course work is now e learning which I find is a beneficial way to learn. I find we have well structured learning that help us with knowledge in store and also with any Apprentice work / assessments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Being an apprentice Travel Advisor at TUI is a very similar role to being a non-apprentice Travel Advisor - you get treated the same as your colleagues and complete the same tasks. Completing apprentice task work can help boost confidence during the job, especially when completing knowledge boosting e-learning. I personally find this to be quite useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes - there are some extra curricular activities we can get involved in. As a store team we frequently go out for meals together and also have our work-related store mingles where we get together as a team and discuss what's great and what could be improved on within store led by managers.
