Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis, I attend breakdowns and fix the machines. This means I have to problem solve to work out what is wrong. When we are not busy, we are in the workshop repairing/refurbishing the old parts so that they can be used again on the shop floor.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have to say it has been quite a good experience, I have met lot of new people at work and at college and got to build relationships. Whilst I am away at college, I have to live with 7 boys and being the only female was quite intimidating at first but they all made me feel very welcome.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

So I have just obtained my level 3 diploma in food and drink after taking the multi-skilled pathway. This means that I am both mechanically and electrically qualified. I have also gained experience on the Nestle abbreviations. I took a confined space internal training day and also a fire extinguisher training course. This means that I can be fire watch for my colleagues and also assist with confined space jobs.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I would say I have had some difficulty with the organisation and structure of the programme as we had to change colleges' due to the old college not being able to accommodate us. It is also a new qualification to the business so there are struggles with not knowing what is going on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive quite a lot of support from my employer where possible. They are quite flexible and definitely come with some perks. They support doctors appointments, dentist appointment by allowing us to leave work. But as I said before the programme is new to the employer so they struggle to support us with college work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I feel as though I don't receive much support from the training provider as I have to email them multiple times for a response. Some of the tutors can be quite rude at times and unsupportive. This has been a real issue throughout my apprenticeship which has cause a lot of problems.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think what the training provider has taught us does help, especially the hands on things. I definitely know more about my job role from attending college. But I think the real learning is on site with people at work. But i have definitely put my knowledge from college to use.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have a sports and social club which you pay every month and you get perks like days out, cheaper tickets and you can arrange days out too. There are also careers events that we attend to promote the apprenticeship for Nestle. Also there is a running club on a wednesdays.

Why?
I feel as though it is a good place to work with a good range of apprenticeship programme which can really help you out in life and you can earn while you learn. I have recomended the apprenticeship before to people I know and I am sure they have applied.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestlé?
I would say definitely to be yourself, people will like you for who you are. Be confident in what you are saying when attending the interviews. The application stage is quite hard so just be prepared but it is all worth it in the end. Go in with an open mindset.
