Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Leakage detection methods in towns and villages (dmas). i go looking for leaks and raise jobs for leaks to be repaired while selecting the appropriate traffic management for the job. I help look after peoples areas and give anybody a general helping hand when they need one. i also sort meter issues.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i love the program as i have had a good mix of practical and classroom learning. i had 1 week at college and 3 on-site in my first year. My second year was just site work and i would complete some course work occasionally. i love the programme im on as i love working outside every day.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills including leakage detection methods, acoustic noise logging, correlating and using leak detection equipment. i have learnt new sills in teamwork and meeting new people. i have also learnt many good customer skills as we speak to customers all of the time, this is something i wasnt as confident with
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

the programme is structured well. It could have been better with the training provider if we were given an information pack at the start on how to use OneFile our e-portfolio. We had to teach ourselves and guess resulting in people uploading assignments wrong and then having to redo them.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

i receive support all of the time from my employer and never need to worry about any problems that i have. i can get help when its needed regarding my apprenticeship and my manager and supervisor always try and push me to do my best at everything. they always support me
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

i have reviews with my assessor often and this helps me keep on track with what i need to be doing to complete my apprenticeship. i also have catch up sessions every other month to go through coursework and my online portfolio, this is with my assessor and everyone in my group on the apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i feel that this has helped me alot during my apprenticeship. it has helped me when out on-site and i can think back to what i learnt in college to answer a customers question etc. I feel like i know alot more information from doing the apprenticeship rather than if i hadnt done it and came into a job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is always events that you can volunteer to do. Some include going to schools and doing mock interviews with students, this helps them gain interview skills and gives them plenty of practice. There is also social events to go and meet everybody and play games such as table tennis and pool etc.

I would recommend severn trent to anybody because they have lots of great qualities. one of them is their share save scheme, this is where you get the opportunity to buy shares of the the company at a discounted rate and ten sell them. there are many other great benefits such as their pension scheme, flexible working hours, good support and many more
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Severn Trent?
i would advise people to be very honest and spend a lot of time on the application as that is a very important part. i would also say research the company and why it is a great company to work for. always make sue you know what you will be doing in the job role.
