Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I worked as part of a team focusing on policies regarding the governance of financial institutions and the remuneration of their staff. This role included helping create, evaluate, adapt and implement said policies. I undertook both quantitative and qualitative analysis pieces of work, and gained in responsibility / autonomy as the year progressed.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given increasing responsibility as the year progressed. At first, the goal is to learn all of the basics, get accustomed to the technical side of the work and to fit in with the team. This is done through small projects and contributions to larger pieces of work. As time progressed, I was given my own independent projects and contributed to a greater extent to wider work.

Ever staff member I've met at the Bank of England has been incredibly kind / willing to help in any way, especially as we navigated a virtual work environment. Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The Bank sets out long term company culture goals, which they really work towards. I found it to be a very open environment, where any topic (professional and personal) can be talked about. It's a great place to work in, where hours are consistent (9-5) and you are encouraged to develop outside of work and make the most of your free time without having to think about work.
