Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Professional Bid and Proposal Manager working for E.ON within the renewable energies industry. Responsible for multi-million pound tenders and proposal responses across a wide range of varying solutions from onsite generation to energy efficiency. Working with key internal stakeholders to provide a robust high quality personalised proposal. Managing the Bid/Proposal process from start to finish in both Public and Private sectors.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme was well thought out with a roll on, roll off style of teaching which at times proved challenging when team activities relied on knowledge and understanding of previous activities. The programme adapted for Covid to become a fully digital course and the team at JGA handled this effectively.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I have earned knowledge, skills and experience that match the APMP standard of bidding. I have developed my management skills and use of bid and proposal management tools. I have focussed on developing my weaker skills and knowledge and the apprenticeship has helped me to do this. I would recommend this.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme was well structured and followed a modular approach which was clearly set out at enrolment. The assessment phase was also well structured when entering the end point gateway and completing the portfolio for submission and subsequent exams. The organisation element of the programme could be improved with regular 121's and a team of people who can step in if mentors cannot make them.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received lots of support from my employer during my apprenticeship programme. I had regular apprenticeship meetings with my employed regarding my apprenticeship progress and how they can support me. My employer also attended regular review meetings with the apprenticeship provider to monitor and review progress and where both parties can support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received great support from all the different teams of the training provider including IT support, mentors, assessors and coaches. The support system was great and I had multiple options to reach out to. Regular reviews were used with the trainer to discuss any issues and support me where necessary.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification has helped me improve my knowledge and skills in bid and proposal management. I have taken the learnings from my course and implemented significant change in the process which has improved the quality and timeframe for our responses to tenders. The qualification has also helped me to understand the best practices in bid and proposal management which I have implemented in role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I am involved in professional networks on our internal intranet as well as development circles. I am yet to attend any physical events but I have attended events on MS Teams. There are a number of different teams and activities I could get involved in but have chosen not to at this point in time.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
E.ON are a fair and equal employer. They emphasise on wellbeing and work life balance. As a flexible employer they have been very supporting in my apprenticeship programme not only in terms of people support but also time support offering me 1 day a week to focus on my apprentice programme.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
E.ON look for character as well as capabilities. I would recommend applying as the 'whole package.' Many people who work at E.ON have a real passion for their day-to-day working and believe they are truly making a difference in the renewable energy scene. This creates a great working atmosphere.
