Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role consists of helping with site and central finance - looking at purchasing, invoicing, reconciliations, journals etc... while also being given the chance to be involved in various projects at ways to improve and standardize processes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I find my apprenticeship enjoying and rewarding - my peers have all been welcoming and supportive throughout the scheme so far. The company has held a number of events and has a great team and inclusive culture that harnesses the chance to grow and develop.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
On top of studying towards my accounting qualifications I have been able to develop a number of IT skills, while also improving on verbal and written communication skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I think there is a great structure in place, with the opportunity to look at training relevant to the scheme but also to have a look at the wider business and understand the operations.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is a great support structure in place and available should you need it. I have regular 1-2-1s with my manager and scheduled meeting with HR to have the opportunity to discuss progress and any issues that may have arisen.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My training provider regularly reaches out to discuss progress and over any help I should need - they also offer a number of different learning methods to suit what you may need. I also have quarterly meetings to discuss progress and any issues.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
A number of the the concepts taught from my course provider can be transferred into my day-to-day. You have to be prepared to adapt concepts learnt to the work you do as they won't always directly translate.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are a number of additional things to get involved in, from volunteering to company events where you can get to meet people on different schemes and different business units which helps expand your professional network.

Yes

I'd recommend DHL as they offer a range of opportunities to progress and there are a number of additional activities and chances to learn while you work with the company while also offering a great support network to help with your professional development.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DHL?
