Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a recruitment manager within the non-clinical team and we as a team provide the NHS with temporary workers to fill the gaps they have within their trusts. I oversee a team of 10 individual recruitment consultants and a varying number of recruitment assistants and approximately 13 NHS trusts. I work with my team to fill as many placements as possible, as quickly as possible working alongside the KPI's, targets and agreed SLA's we have set.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I absolutely love my programme. I have the best, most supportive and knowledgeable Tutor who has been there every step of the way. I cannot fault the support i have received from Laura Stow. The programme has also given me the opportunity to learn about things such as project, finance and operational management which i have not done much of in the past.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have certainly developed the skills i already had but my knowledge has grown extensively and i have had opportunities within the business to work with departments and colleagues i would not have had if i wasnt studying this apprenticeship. I have learnt about many new useful tools i can use to support, manage and develop my team effectively and also got to know myself and my management style in depth.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I think it is great and i have had a really positive experience. I would say for me personally i would have liked more modules opened to be able to see in the future what is coming and be able to work ahead when i have the time to do so. They were great with this and during really busy times at work adjusted my workload accordingly to ensure i achieved my apprenticeship modules and exams on time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
MY line manager was also excited and passionate about me taking on the apprenticeship to improve my knowledge and skills. She was very supportive and allowed me to do some of it during work hours and other times i had to work during my personal time but it was worth it
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My tutor was excellent. Easy to talk to, approachable, supportive, knowledgeable and went at the pace that worked for me. Cannot thank her enough for her assistance with the programme and understanding that i am juggling a full time job as well as a family too! She adjusted the work i had set according to how my month was going.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel it really helps me perform better within my current role as it has provided me with a better understanding of myself and how i managed before and now i have grown as a manager, feel more capable, confident and able to support my team with their own development and performance.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
The business does have some social activities but these have been cancelled due to covid. Usually there are coffee chat's arranged remotely to keep you in touch with other parts of the business you wouldnt usually get to speak to. It is picked randomly and you are paired with someone in a different department and this enables you to make new contacts and grow your knowledge

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I love how our company has played a huge part is supporting the NHS to stay afloat during a global pandemic. We all pulled together as a team and a business to ensure there were enough workers for business as usual placements and the many projects the government asked us to support with. I have a great team around me and i am looking forward to growing with the company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
Know that there is opportunity throughout the business, amazing training opportunities and that what you do will actually make a huge difference to a great cause, OUR NHS!! I love my job and the team are amazing so would 100% recommend working for NHSP! Thank you very much!
