Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I coordinate the inpatient services for an acute mental health unit. This means I have duties such as welfare, rotas, data input, reporting, supervision of others, managing changes within the admin team etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
Some. It wasn't challenging enough. I have a degree in business consultancy but my employer has decided I needed to start again from scratch.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I think what was the most beneficial to me were the practical tools and familiarization with certain terms as I studied abroad. While I had the concepts in my mind, it helps to communicate with others now that I know what they are in English.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme was okay- I enjoyed the units. But my tutor was a disaster- she was not organized at all and made certain things more difficult than what they should have been.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
They allowed me to work a few hours here and there to complete the programme. The pressure was too much for them to allow me to give more. I agreed with that.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
My tutor was not very good. But I didn't need much support. I needed some guidance before the final interview but even then I felt I could have been better prepared. I was not aware I could have some support documentation with me so I answered everything without that support. I still achieved and Outstanding but I felt others would benefit from better and consistent guidance.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel more confident and has enabled me to start working towards level 4 apprenticeship. Has refreshed some concepts for me which is always useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Admin networks

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because I believe that have better trainers than the one assigned to me. I have colleagues that were assigned other people and they were better professionals. The programme itself is useful and has potential to be good.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
If you feel the person supporting you isn't the best, please ask for someone else.
