Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On my day to day basis, I primarily work with various teams to gather requirements, further translating them into technical specifications and producing designs. My role is very fluid and requires me to work across several teams, while also managing other teams to ensure succesful delivery of milestones. My designs are used by the client, which makes my job feel fulfilling.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy my programme because it allows me to develop in real time, without having my hand held or simply listening to lectures. As a tactile learner, this programme suits me incredibly, as I'm able to learn best practices while adapting them for real clients, and also increase my theoretical knowledge through studies.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed a wide range of skills through both - work and studies. I have developed good knowledge of cloud related technologies, work methodologies and how the digital aspect of most businesses functions.
Besides hard skills, I have drastically improved my confidence, which helps me in personal and professional life immensely.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure of the programme is easy to follow. Dedicated study days, where classes are attended are set, and the classes are done in an order that allows apprentices to submit work without being too swamped, or have tight deadlines.
I think it's really well done, and there's a lot of consideration to accomodate apprentices, as we're essentially full time employed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support is the best part of being Employed at Accenture. As someone with no experience in the industry, I was always helped or guided to help.
As someone who likes to ask questions, I was a little hesitant at the start of the programme, only to find that asking questions is encouraged as everyone understands that we're learning and makes you feel like part of a team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training provider is helpful, but is sometimes very slow on providing additional information when requested. While all the content is given, reaching lecturers after hours can be difficult and requires a lot of "chasing".
Benefit of being an apprentice, is having the ability to escalate these issues to your employer, if they're not being resolved by the training provider, although that is a very rare occasion.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification makes me perform significantly better, because I'm able to understand concepts from a theoretical perspective, rather than just knowing how to implement things.
The biggest benefit is not the qualification making me perform better, but the work making me perform better in studies, as knowing the practical aspect of subjects we're learning makes things much easier and clears up any knowledge gaps.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Absolutely. Accenture has a wide range of social clubs and networking events that are always advertised. Everyone is encouraged to partake - this is one of my favourite things about my employer. Even through COVID-19, Accenture has taken great steps in making sure the team spirits are not down by making events like "virtual pub quizzes", virtual stand up nights, deskside yoga, etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because Accenture is a phenomenal place to develop. You are exposed to a wide range of clients, surrounded by some of the brightest people in the industry and essentially - the only limit is yourself.
If you're competent, you will not be limited to "what you can do". As an apprentice, I've had an opportunity to present to clients, manage internal and external teams and be the point of contact for several large workstreams, so - the only thing that limits you here, is yourself.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
Be open about your interests and show your passion for technology. Have an open mind and explore various aspects of the IT consulting business, as you might be surprised by things that you never thought you'd find interesting. I would also strongly suggest researching what exactly Accenture does, and various case studies to see what kind of projects we have delivered.
