Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am currently situated within the management accounts team. I’ve been with this team for almost 3 years now as I also completed my level 3 apprenticeship with them. The main tasks I complete as a management account are standard accruals/transfers, prepayments, variance analysis and much more. I also complete many other tasks like running reports for the wider finance team and raising invoices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed working within my role. The thing which has really made the experience for me is the amazing team I work around. They are all truly the nicest people and are happy to help whenever you may have a question.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned many new skill while I’ve been in this job from role. Firstly is better time management as when it comes to month end process it is always very tight as we only have a short window to complete certain tasks. Another skill I’ve developed is proper business communication as this was my first job and I’d never really experienced what it like to work within a business before.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is very well structure. I have felt supported by both GWH and Swindon New College every step of the way. The work set has also been very reasonable and is always achievable in the time set meaning I never feel rushed to complete a certain task.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received plenty of support from my team. They are always happy to help with any questions I may have and will always take the time to help me understand something if I’m confused. My manager is also very supportive of my development and encourages me to take time off to develop my skills whether that be from courses offered by GWH or learning at college.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have worked with my current tutor for almost 3 years now and we get along very well. Over the past 3 years she has been a very big help in all aspects of my studies as she is always happy to help if I have a problem. Also all the work she sets for me is very achievable and she will always go the extra mile to help me understand the work I have to undertake.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The biggest thing would be giving me the opportunity to reflect back on the work I’ve done. This reflection helps me understand the tasks more deeply while also assessing which skills those tasks have actually used and how I’ve improved because of it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
No but GWH does offer a variety of training course which help you develop your personal skills. Other courses are also offered by the NHS which are designed to help develop peoples skills even if its something they might not be doing on a day to day biases.
