Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I go to university one day a week and the other 4 I work. When I’m at work I will join any client calls for that day, write up the minutes or actions to take off the call and update the communal documentation to reflect this. I may also get the opportunity to test some sql.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I think it’s quite difficulty to answer this given the unique circumstances of this last year. This last year has been a lot more stressful and as we have had to be online/in front of our laptops for everything, 12+ hours/day which has been difficult.
But overall the experience has been good, and will be better once apprentices can work in person.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes - prior to the apprenticeship I had no technical experience or skills.
Now I can proficiently write Java and have intermediate skills in SQL, Front End Development, and Python. I have also developed project management and planning skills through university. Throughout the apprenticeship I have developed my existing presentation skills.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of every Monday in term time being at university is very helpful as it draws a barrier between working and studying. Block modules are also good as work understand you are out of office.
Both work and uni can be a little last minute with organisation and communications. But in general the programme is well organised.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is a lot of support for me as and employee - from benefits to sense of community. I get a career counsellor to help me with direction. I also have a buddy which is an apprentice from the year above, to help with smaller questions.
I think there should be more support around our final year synoptic projects.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university lecturers go above and beyond to provide 1:1 support. This can be coursework reviews, calls or answering specific questions.
Where it is maybe a little lacking if a structured coursework feedback loop/style to get feedback earlier.
Also there is definitely a lot of pressure with 3 deadlines including the synoptic project all in the space of 2 weeks.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Working towards the degree has given me a safe space to learn and practice with dummy projects. This has been very helpful and I used skills I have been taught such as development in previous roles.
I think my progress and confidence have excelled due to the degree. It adds W great value to what I get out of the apprenticeship.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes. There is anything you could think of. Sports, cultural societies, learning groups, regular project socials, networking events and conferences.
There are many speaking events which give you the opportunity to learn about different extra curricular activities. If something doesn’t already exist you can set up and run an event or society.

I think there is a lot of potential for growth within Accenture and they have cultivated a great sense of community.
It’s well know and established that you can ask anyone for help and they will help you, whether that’s pointing you in the right direction of who to ask, or helping you themselves.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
Be yourself - it’s much more about being the right fit at Accenture. You don’t need to be the loudest in the room.
Show your passion, talk about what interests you and what it is about Accenture that makes you want to work for them. Passion and drive goes a long way!
