Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Caring for patients in an acute hospital setting with ranges of different needs. Performing tasks such as personal care, observations of vital signs, venepuncture, dressing/wound management, making referrals, collecting specimens, liasing with colleagues, completing assessments, the list goes on!
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the working aspect of my programme, learning on the job and engaging with patients and colleagues. I find the academic/university side of things more challenging and harder to manage than that of the pressure in the workplace.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes I am always gaining new knowledge and skills within my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I believe there is good structure to the programme, it was still fairly new to everyone involved when I started so naturally I think there were some bumps along the road. At the moment with online learning I don’t believe it is well structured
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Great amount of support from my employer. My manager and direct colleagues I work with are very supportive of my learning, they involve me and respect my role. My assessor at work has also always been so very supportive and is always there for advice and support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I think lecturers are always good at supporting students when it is needed and are also good at signposting to where we can find the best solutions to problems
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The knowledge and skills we learn enable us to put that into practice and improve our care we are giving.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Unsure

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Amazing place to work. I have always come across friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff wherever I have worked. Great wealth of knowledge and a great place to learn. A hidden gem
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
If you have the passion and thrive to deliver great care which is person centred, enjoy challenges and a busy working environment then go for it!
