4/5
Retail manager, I oversee seventeen staff and ensure risk and compliance, financial control, welfare and development of staff, handovers to assistant manager, one to ones with staff, deal with customer issues, complaints or escalations. We have a foreign exchange bureau I am also accountable for. I look at profit and loss reports to ensure we are profitable and meeting KPIS
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
I used to enjoy it working in a smaller store however it has come to light since then that all the modules I was completing and submitting wasnt actually the correct information and I failed the modules that were completed. I also was given exactly what to prepare for my finals in my mock and my finals were completely different so feel I was marked down. I am now 4 years in to an 18 month program and still dont really know how to proceed

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learned new skills, these include things such as priority management how to handle difficult conversations, working with money and finances. How to be self aware. My apprenticeship has helped me write and handle reviews with my staff and generally in day to day activities I feel I have gained skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
I used to feel that it was well structured however as per above I also was given exactly what to prepare for my finals in my mock and my finals were completely different so feel I was marked down. How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Honestly I don't receive any support any more, I used to be able to manage this myself in a quieter store as I would just crack on with work that needed doing but now I am in a busy store I never get given time to do this with

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Apprenticeship aside I love my job. Work is a bit weird at the moment but that is just down to the pandemic, I love making customers happy and TUI put the customer at the heart of what they do. Theyve also aided my development to a senior manager since starting in 2014.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
My advice would be that there is a lot to learn but it is worth it. I would say maybe not the industry to join right now in the middle of a pandemic but definitely a great industry with loads of challenges to keep you busy. the perks are great too
