Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Metrology: One area of Quality that I chose was Metrology, this is where parts from different projects are measured, monitored, and tested on. One of my main tasks was to measure new L460 parts, like MAP Pockets, Top Roll, etc. I have learnt how to use different measuring techniques but mainly using fixtures and DTIs to conduct measurements.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Teamwork: Working in a professional environment has made me realise the importance of working in a team. This allows more brainstorming and different perspectives from the view of another department and their individual goals.
Communicating with Customers: When working with customers it vital that a good relationship is built to ensure issues are dealt with smoothly and in a friendly manner.
Building Skillset: When I have little tasks to do, I offer to help the engineers and do any tasks they may need help with. This allows me to build my skillset by learning new operations and methods within the quality department.
Learning from Mistakes: During the year I’ve made mistakes and not met deadlines. My manager has taught me that it’s okay to make mistakes if I learn from them. When I’ve made mistakes, I remember them more so next time I’ll remember to not make the same mistake therefore making it a valuable lesson.
