Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Booking in patients that arrive into the emergency department. Admin and filing of notes. Scanning documents for admission. Dealing with the general public, being kind, compassionate and caring.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Really enjoying the program and being able to work on a fulltime wage and learn and gain a qualification at the same time is excellent for my progression.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have increased my IT skills from doing my apprenticeship and also gained a greater understanding of the business that i work for.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Very well organised and structured. However because of the pandemic i havent had any shadowing or face to face assessment with my mentor, this is difficult when trying to see areas of improvement for myself.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Management within the team and my line manager are very supportive and also help and assist with improvements for my performance on the desk.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Lots of virtual help on teams, however my mentor has not yet seen my physical work due to the pandemic and restrictions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The apprenticeship has made me increase my awareness of the business and also the NHS. The apprenticeship has also shown my strengths and i have built on my SMART targets for my weaknesses.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I try and attend social events when available, these usually include nursing and doctors too as we are all one team.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
because the teamwork and graft and rewards far outweigh the bad press about the NHS and the wait times and patient/relative abuse received on the desk.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
Remember the trusts values and also try your best and be willing to be part of a team.
