Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working in an operating theatre as either a scrub practitioner or a circulator under the supervision of a registered nurse and as part of a multi disciplinary team providing high quality patient centred care.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I’ve enjoyed the program, it was difficult adapting to online learning due to the pandemic. At times the workloads is challenging when combined with work and family life.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My course enabled me to research the theory that underpins my work as a competent practitioner in clinical practice. I have undertaken modules on a broad range of topics that extend beyond the environment I work in.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure is excellent, most modules last 6-8 weeks with an assignment at the end. The organisation depends on the individual tutors, some are more organised than others.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I was grateful to be given the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship to further my career in the NHS. I do have a clinical educator and there is someone I can contact in Learning and development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I can contact the module lecturer for support completing assignments, I also have a personal tutor I can get support from.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I started in my role with tacit knowledge, after the course I have acquired evidenced based knowledge this theory underpins the work I do
