Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I manage NHS Futures @ RWT and my role is to provide everyone no matter what their age, back ground or circumstance the opportunities to discover and try out the numerous roles and careers available within the NHS and specifically Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. I design and deliver various work experience and employability programmes, working with school children, education leavers, NEET's and those looking to change their career on a daily basis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am really enjoying the programme and an excited to continue along this journey. It has been great to network with people in similar roles in both education and industry and learning more about the careers guidance, advice and information sector. Sometimes I find working full time and completing the apprenticeship difficult when I have busy periods but my manager is very supportive and we work through this together, ensuring a get I good work/apprenticeship/home life balance.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I am relatively new into my apprenticeship but have already developed skills such as planning and completing assignments and referencing as I had not done undertaking any assignment writing for a very long time and had never been required to reference previously.. I am also starting to develop and improve my reflective practice.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well structured with all the dates for my masterclasses available for this year so I can manage my diary around this. I also have a clear apprentice learning plan and access to OneFile to help me keep track of my task, assignments and deadlines etc as well as being able to record my OTJ.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As previously stated my manager is extremely supportive and we have regular 1:1's where we discuss my work load, projects and apprenticeship. The Trust is very committed to apprenticeships and I get additional support from the work based learning team who regularly check in with me and are available if I need them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider is very support and always on hand to respond to any queries I may have around my apprenticeship and qualification. We have regularly diarised reviews and classes.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Again as I am quite early into my apprenticeship I have not yet noticed a major change, but it is definitely helping me feel more confident with planning activities and programmes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
This is currently very difficult due to the pandemic but I have worked for this organisation for 3 years now and previously attended organised social activities.
