Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am an application developer apprentice for Accenture , in my dad 2 day role i work with a Large UK bank as my client and I work in their payments department developing and working on the payments systems which enables payments to flow daily from my work and code
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the apprenticeship thoroughly and I love being able to work as well as get a degree. I get to learn relevant technologies and skills whilst being at Uni and learning other topics and working towards a degree. As Accenture has client in many sectors I can get a varied experience from different industries this will make me a more rounded IT consultant.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned alot of skills both technical and non-technical. For technical skills I have learned multiple programming languages as-well as how large retail banks work and how they provide services to their customers as well as how money is sent and received all around the world. Along side those technical skills I have learned is skills in project management as well as client stakeholder management and corporate literacy

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is structured fairly well , 4 days a week I work and the remaining day I go to university to study. When I started you go through a 10 week Bootcamp to get you to speed with fundamental technologies to be an IT consultant. This bootcamp is great as it builds key skills that you will use going forward. In Accenture we have a multitude of support contacts , we have a team dedicated for the Apprentices who deal with any issues around that aswell we have a counselor who is there for career aspiration and guidance and also have a university contact for our university work. Aswell as all that we have our work team and they are the team you work with day 2 day and they are always supportive.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
In Accenture we have a multitude of support ; A dedicated apprenticeship team who are there for any queries or issues. Along side this we have our own counselor who is there for career aspiration and guidance also we have good HR who can answer any HR queries and support on that. Finally our own team we work in are very supportive of the scheme. So in general a web of support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Glasgow Caledonian University is a good university and very supportive with their courses all the lecturers are always on hand when needing support. The content we work with is good and digestible and there are multiple avenues to get help. The topics are interesting and structured well for learning. Only thing is you have to be proactive at learning which is expected as it is university
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I am currently studying towards a software development for business degree and in this course i am learning really integral topics to be a rounded IT consultant. A good part of what I am learning i use day to day but granted a good part of what I am learning I dont use as its technologies i don't use. But it broadens my knowledge and helps to tune the way i think to be more analytical which is great.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are multiple social events which occur at Accenture , many events like going out for dinner with the team , bowling and other social events even playing football. As well as these there are many conferences which are professional networking events which give you the chance to meet the leaders driving Accenture in the UK
