Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work within the Technical architecture capability and am currently working on developing a monitoring solution. I am responsible mainly for creating the configuration for the solution but also am involved in deploying it and making further amendments in real time. I interact with several skilled personnel on the team who help direct me towards my end goal
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
My team is absolutely fantastic- everyone is always willing to lend a hand or give an extra input whenever required. The amount of support presented is also unmatched as they're willing to accommodate for study days and personal issues within my work. I also have a great mentor who helps guide me in my future at the company based on my interests

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since starting, I have gained an AZ900 certification and am currently working towards achieving the AWS cloud practitioner. There are also multiple courses available on Accenture's training platform that allow me to develop my skills in technologies I use on a daily basis, such as Ansible and Terraform. By taking part in making and presenting business presentations, I have also improved my understanding of the topics involved and become more confident in presenting

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Due to onboarding during covid, the induction was not very structured. There was uncertainty over when the kits would arrive and sessions to be covered in the initial week. It eventually picked up the pace once we started bootcamp and gained new skills. However, the communication from the college is rather poor and could be improved upon
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager is incredibly supporting and is always approachable with any issues I have. My mentor is also very helpful with any questions I have and ensures that any issues are routed towards the right people- this allows quick resolution. I haven't had much contact with the HR team but they tend to get back with solutions on any questions within the working day
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The support from my training provider is limited- my mentor and tutors are helpful but not the most efficient at communicating/ re-planning anything that's not the same as it has been with the last year group. I enjoy my course and the taught content- the lecturers are also helpful when it comes to the taught content but the structure could be improved upon
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The courses I do at college and my activities in my role are completely unrelated. That said, I have implemented bits of the courses during my role, such as the Agile methodology and coding fundamentals. I also have a better understanding of networking from my college course which has proved helpful when understanding deployment of virtual machines and the architectural layout
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are a plethora of extra curricular activities to get involved in and socialise. There are several team chats for societies wherein people can get involved and interact with others that enjoy the same things. There are also networking events to understand a little bit more about the capabilities and roles that are on offer

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have never felt out of place or excluded on my team, even when I'm not too familiar with the topics being discussed. The support network is also very strong and it is very easy to reach out and ask for help whenever needed. Plus, there is no distinction between an apprentice and a permanent employee and they're both equally trusted to complete a role
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
Having a good career counsellor to guide you and support you is a key part of the job. Find a CC that is familiar with you and your work and can passionately represent your work at the company. Also, take part in as many events as you can (there's a variety of them to suit everyone's interests) and make use of all the work perks that are on offer
