Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
This apprenticeship provides the opportunity to change roles frequently, allowing you to try out different roles within the company. I have been in two very different roles so far. The first role involved a lot of information gathering, spreadsheets and admin tasks. The second role was client facing and I had a lot more opportunity and responsibility.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am really enjoying the programme. Accenture has a lot of different roles to offer, and you can explore different roles in line with your interests. The culture is very inclusive and there is a lot of support and training available.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I have learnt a lot of new skills. I have almost completed my first year at university and have learned Java, HTML and CSS. I have also completed modules in Math, Business, Information Systems and Computer Systems / Networks. I am also learning a lot on the job such as customer service skills and I am hoping to start a coding role soon.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is really well structured. One day a week we attend university and the other four days we work. There are additional study days that you can request if you need extra time to study for an exam / complete coursework. There is a whole support network for apprentices and they take your feedback on board.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is a lot of support from Accenture. We have a dedicated management team as well as HR support who are enthusiastic to help and give guidance / support. Each apprentice (and employee) also has a People Lead who can give you advice and support throughout your career.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The apprenticeship training provider is a university, so we attend lectures and labs in the same way a full-time student would. The tutors are mostly very good and we are also asked to provide feedback on each module. Feedback is taken seriously by the university and tutors are easy to contact for any additional support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have learned a lot of new skills through my training provider that I would like to put into practice. I have yet to use some of these skills in my role, but I now feel able to apply for roles that I would not have been able to previously (junior software developer).
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are a lot of extra-curricular activities to get involved in. I joined during the pandemic, but there were a lot of virtual events held to socialise and network with the team and other apprentices. I am looking forward to meeting everyone in person and joining some of the many clubs / groups available .

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There is a lot of opportunity at Accenture. It has an inclusive culture and there is a lot of support available. There is a lot of training available through their learning portal and certifications that you can complete e.g. AWS, Google Cloud. It is a great place to learn and apply what you learn to your role in order to progress your career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
Do research on the company, the latest technology trends and look up the Accenture core values. If you are enthusiastic about technology, show your enthusiasm (you don't necessarily need a qualification in technology) and be yourself.
