Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a daily basis I will attend calls with my team in order to discuss the previous days work as well as plan what we'll be doing for the rest of the day. My role specifically involves a lot of coding with Powershell as well as utilizing Azure DevOps.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the program as it affords me many different opportunities to advance and improve my knowledge. Not only do I get to learn things from my training provider in order to progress with my degree but I also learn current and fringe skills while performing work in the real world.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills while working at Accenture, including coding in various languages like YAML, Powershell as well as shell scripting. I have also learnt to use a variety of tools in order to get work done including Azure DevOps, Ansible which is an orchestration engine and Powerbi, a data visualization tool

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I think the program is structured well, I am well aware of what is required of me in terms of time and effort and I know the same for my real-world work. My team is also very flexible and I find it very easy to work around my degree study.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive as much support as I require, if I encounter any issues Accenture will assist me in any way they are able to, I have a career councilor who talks to be directly and I can come to with any issues regarding my degrees studies, my actual work or any issues in my personal life that are beginning to affect my work life.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have a skills coach who I am in regular contact with who can assist me with any queries or issues I may have, my training provider does the best to work around me and assist me wherever they can. Support is easily accessed by phone, Microsoft Teams or email.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
To be quite honest I don't think that my degree studies assist in my real work all that much, a lot of what you learn studying for a degree is either quite limited or a bit outdated compared to what you'll learn while working IT is a very fast moving sector and so it is difficult for training providers to create good and comprehensive courses while keeping up with modern day IT standards and best practices.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are some extra-curricular activities to take part in, we have an events planning team called the Life@Warwick team that plan and create events for the office including charity/fundraising events and teambuilding exercises, unfortunately due to COVID this has been impossible recently but once restrictions are lifted this work can recommence.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Accenture offer a variety of advantages for working for them, most of all the training they provide for working with new modern day technology is extremely useful and Accenture are all about investing in your knowledge and growing your skillset. The flexibility of working from home and going into the office is also extremely useful and everyone in the office is very friendly.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
Do your homework before applying, ensure you showcase your interest in IT outside of any studying or work you've done. Accenture don't expect you to have all the answers but are looking for knowledgeable young people to invest in and it helps massively if it's easy to tell you are passionate about IT.
