Commercial Sales Review

The role varies from day to day in terms of projects and larger tasks but there is a set of tasks that are required to be done each day. These involve managing customer applications and ensuring commercial documentation is recorded correctly. Daily interactions also vary massively depending on the task you are doing but you will be exposed to many different people across many locations. Overall it is a very demanding and exciting job role.

For the first 3 months I was given responsibility but not a lot. Once I had integrated and the managers felt I was ready then I gradually was given a lot more responsibility. After about 6 months I was accountable for a number of things and also was beginning to lead specific projects. By the end of the placement I had been given the opportunity to crated new documents in order to improve, I had managed projects, supported others and had a large set of daily responsibilities.

Yes there are many skills developed and gained during this placement. Some of the skills/competencies that you will be able to improve upon is as follows: Excel, Microsoft outlook, Communication, Teamworking, Networking, confidence, presenting effectively, time management, organizational, work ethic, autonomy, accountability and many others. I have been able to grow so much and I believe I am a much more well rounded person going into my final year of studies thanks to Faurecia.

At the start of the placement I received a lot of support from my team and HR. As I got more competent then the support and guidance faded out but that is normal. However throughout the whole placement you are surrounded by people who are willing to offer there full support the second you ask for it. Nobody would turn you away and not help. But in terms of the manager and team coming to ask if you need it then they will not do that unless you ask.

Company culture was very inclusive. The company really values its placement and they want you to do well and they want you to come back as a graduate. They believe in acquiring talent from a placement as they are investing in us in order to benefit them in the long run when you come back and work in the company. So they will always endeavor to offer support and help where possible and include you in all social events.

I extremely enjoyed the placement. My background was Accounting and this sales role was far from that so I was a bit weary of this to start with. But no matter your background this role allows you to develop many skills and really allows you to get involved. Everyone was very friendly and had an inclusive culture. Getting your foot in the door with this company really opens you up to a load of future opportunities.
