Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work as corporate receptionist and admin in the main entrance of a multi tenancy building. My role would require me to greet visitors, direct them to their hosts or meetings, answer phone calls and reply to emails, report issues to maintenance team, liaise between tenants and in- building teams and management.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Unfortunately the entirety of programme presentation was quite fragmentary due to the continuous change of the tutor. The last person we have been assigned made the entire learning process much smoother and pleasant, explaining in an interesting way topics that could have otherwise be a bit boring to deal with.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I believe I have acquired new skills and knowledge but more so a deeper understanding of my industry in terms of language, terminology and structure. Some of the material in the apprenticeship did not relate to my job description but I can see it being useful should future opportunities arise.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme itself is well structured and relevant to my job, with just few topic not really connected to my job description.
Video presentations were fun to watch and it was helpful to visualise the topic and have a different learning approach to it. I found the website a bit dispersive.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer was very supportive throughout my entire learning experience. I was allowed time to study and to review and, when needed, meeting rooms were provided and extra off time was allowed for meeting reviews and tests to happen. I firmly believe my employer wants me to achieve my full potential.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

As mentioned before, as much as program was interesting and well organised, the disruption caused by the continuous substitution of the tutor is evident. Even before pandemic times my colleagues and I were running late and this was because every time someone would change, the new tutor would then have to visit, introduce themselves and then assess the learning. Individual tutors were lovely but the company should have been more organised and assign us to one tutor and keep them consistent. ( I have had 4 tutors in total)

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think that being in the know of a specific, more detailed terminology and the processes behind the industry is a great plus provided by the course. I believe I already was qualified and excelled in my job but to have confirmation that I am doing the right thing is extremely valuable.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

My company continuously suggests social events, even in pandemic times i would be invited to Zoom quiz nights and cocktails making. Generally my company ( Lexington and Elior) value people and want them to feel good in the company. Usually charity events and team meetings are organised yearly - of course pandemic has changed that, temporarily.

Would you recommend Elior to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Elior and Lexington are companies where people are given an opportunity to develop and improve - as newcomers they are introduced to the friendliest people in the industry and are lead to value themselves in order to value the client.
The possibility to get an education is only one of the numerous perks the company offers.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Elior?

To people applying to Elior and Lexington, I would suggest to compile their CV listing their individual strength and goals before getting started on actual skills and education. Of course the latter are important but the company has always been more focused, in my experience, in getting the people that would fit with the core values and then train them to do the job.
