Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a administrator I work in the reception office completing a multitude of tasks. Each day is different however some tasks that are daily are booking and cancelling appointments, making confirmations calls, completing and sending out letters, printing off daylists and end of the day banking. Besides this other tasks include daily debriefs and staff meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am enjoying this programme to a high extend. I have had plenty of experience in other learning environments and courses and this by far has been my favourite. I feel I have adapted to this programme really well and my learning has improved massively which has really helped me adjust.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

While being at this job I have learnt and developed skills massively. The skills I already have a shown noticeable improvement and my confidence has grown alongside it. New skills that I have learnt include IT, use of software, listening and communication and especially my professionalism when working with patients.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme I am taking part in is very well organised and structured. The staff supporting me are making sure my learning is as easy and accessible to me as possible. This helps me when completing work and an environment that is well layed out and structured helps me stay focused and clear on what I need to do.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support I receive from my employer is to the highest standard, I feel so comforted and able to express my thoughts and feelings. This is really refreshing as previous places that I have worked have not given me this impression. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my team
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is very much like my employer they both show the best possible support to me and always remind me that I can speak to them at any time no matter what. The enforcement of this makes me feel comfortable asking questions and for further help if I need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My training provider has a massive impact on how I perform in my role. It teaches me how to effectively and professionally behave in my role and when completely task while ensuring I have the correct training. Without my training provider this would be a great struggle especially when adapting to this new experience.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty of extra curricular activity’s at my work that are available to all members of staff. Many of these encourage the health and well-being of staff members and ensures that they take time doing something they enjoy and taking a break from work and this important for staff happiness.

Why?
I have never felt so appreciated and supported in a work role until working for NHS solent. You are so well looked after and my overall health and well-being is always considered by staff, this makes my overall performance and behaviour increase as I feel valued and appreciated in my role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
When applying for the NHS have complete confidence within yourself. Don’t hesitate to apply for a position because you don’t believe you can’t get it. Take the opportunity and see what happens. You never know what might happen. It’s also very important to keep an open mind and take all step as a learning experience
