I have just finished the level two and have progressed onto the level 3. So far i am enjoying it and have already learnt some new skills. i feel that it has helped me to progress within in my role and has given me confidence within myself that i never had before

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
how to use system one and PAS- i had no idea on how to use either of these before
how to register a patient and add their referral- this was something completely new to me
How to collate staff data and keep their records up to date- i had not used excel since i left schhol
Keeping together finance records on a spreadsheet

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Considering it is remotely it works very well, there are very few technical issues and i am learning a lot. ideally it would be better in a classroom but during this current situation it cannot be helped. I enjoy that as a group we have an input and are given group tasks to work on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My line manger helps me daily if i have questions for her. I can rely on her if i need any support whatsoever. I can also go to staff members from other departments if my manager is not around. I feel very supported within this and have lots of people around me that i can assk for help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have discussions with my tutor almost weekly. She answers all of my questions whenever i have one. If i do not need to speak to her we have four weekly catch ups to go over any work that i may need guidance with . i know that she supports me and i am able to access support from her when needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It has opened up a whole new opportunity as before i started i had no administration skills or experience. I can use on a daily basis the new skills i have learnt and it has given me a new confidence in myself and the the tasks that i am set out to do.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Before covid hit there were staff meeting and target days that could be attended and there were yoga and meditation classes provided. Unfortunately theses have been put on hold face to face but can be joined virtually. there is a social secretary in our department who reaches out to us for future ideas that we can hopefully be able to do.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel it is a very good company to work for. there are very good benefits to look forward to and receive. doing an apprenticeship has given me a new career and i have learnt so many new things and have up skilled on the skills i originally had. The company look at you as an asset and now just an employee
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
I would suggest to someone to apply for the job regardless of lack of skills and abilities. Solent NHS apprenticeship scheme take a person and extend on the skills and experiences that you have rather than looking at what you do not have. It has given me the chance to progress and i am now a full time, permanent member of staff.
