Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As as operations management apprentice I have held multiple roles in order to get a better understanding of the business, my current role includes siting it on management meetings such as MBR and finance, lead my own projects including employee engagement and internal classification audits. I previously held a role in quality, where I conducted root cause analysis and implemented containment measures.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy my program, I like the flexibility of the programme and that I can tailor it to my needs. I have enjoyed the roles I've had and they have met my expectations.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed existing skills such as communication and presentation ability as we have been given the opportunity to present to senior members of the business on a range of subjects. I have also improved my excel ability. I have developed new continuous improvement skills as I previously had no experience, including Kaizens and Gemba.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
As the first cohort and due to Covid the structure has not been what was initially planned. My induction was well organised and I regularly receive support from the apprenticeship manager. The mentor system is a highlight of the programme. We are given enough time for studying and training and do not feel under pressure due to poor structure.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Personally, I receive an excellent level of support from my manager and they are always accommodating to my university needs and being new to the business. I have never experienced a negative attitude towards myself due to my role. Guidance with problems is available but can sometimes be difficult to gain traction.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Training provider is excellent, regular lectures that are informative and well organised. Tutor is very responsive to emails regarding assignments, and will provide extensions or alter assignments to suit the cohorts needs, I feel well informed about the course. There soft metrics (comms, leadership) can sometimes be dependent on the individual who is marking them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I can see in the future course structure how the course will help with with my role however, at the moment we have only completed one module and therefore I don't feel it has added significant benefit to my role. I do feel as though I know more about the industry in general though.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Due to COVID there has been minimal social events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CEVA Logistics to a friend?
Yes
Why?
If you work hard and are placed at a good site there is a lot of opportunity to progress. The company culture is good, and is actively working to be improved. They offer a lot of apprenticeships with little restrictions to being accepted. Colleagues are friendly.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CEVA Logistics?
The interviews are competency based and can be hard to answer effectively. Get involved in an apprenticeship as they are likely to provide the most opportunities. Be prepared to take every opportunity in each area of the business and do not be intimidated by a logistics company.
