Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Providing support to the team, such as carrying out legal research tasks relating to a particular aspect(s) of a project, helping coordinate legal review of papers drafted by clients and keeping the knowledge resources up to date and accessible.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I'm enjoying being involved in more substantive legal work and being a key player in the team. Everyone is approachable and friendly, which means learning is made all the easier.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've developed my organisational skills and understanding of prioritisation/time management. There is always a lot going on, so lots of opportunities - it's easy to take on too much. I've learned to ask the right questions that will help me meet deadlines and manage expectations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
As it's the first cohort, there have been some bumps in the road, but generally it's very well structured with lots of support from my supervisor and head of department, plus my skills coach at the university.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
They couldn't be more supportive. My manager and head of department are fully behind me every step of the way and the team are always looking out for me to make sure I'm never too overwhelmed with both studying and working.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I am in touch with my tutors at least once a week (more if I need to be). I also have a skills coach who I meet every 8-10 weeks who makes sure I'm making the progress I need to be.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
At the moment, the theory doesn't apply to my role, however some areas such as ethics have been helpful to learn about when considering legal practice as a whole and the responsibilities placed on a solicitor.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there is a whole host of activities, however, I haven't chosen to volunteer for any social activities due to them being virtual. I might get involved with the netball team when things open up again!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Bank of England to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's the most supportive and relaxed working environment I've ever experienced. You're surrounded by some of the most intelligent minds, but also the kindest. You'll learn so much, you're treated like an adult and your opinion will always be valued, never snubbed.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bank of England?
Be yourself as it's truly valued at the Bank. Bringing your 'whole self' to work is often quoted, but everyone means it. The Bank has a whole host of responsibilities, but don't feel like you need to know everything - just the part/area you're interested in.
