Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am in testing within technology and am the Test Data Management Lead on one of the biggest projects in the bank. Day to day - I speak to my team, report to senior managers and plan, strategise and work with stakeholders to get the results required on the project.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love what I do. It can be hard sometimes to balance University work and Bank work, however the Bank is really good at being flexible and understanding of all challenges which exist as an apprentice.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Planning
Coding
Gathering requirements
confidence to speak to stakeholders
hold conference calls with 30+ people
Leading a team

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised, such good opportunities to get involved with and get outside your comfort zone in order to build your skills and meet new people.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Loads of support. My line-manager is very supportive and I know I can go to him for anything to do with Uni or work related items and everything within my department is incredibly supportive and always willing to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We have a lecture once a week from the university to cover modules and then we have tasks to go off and complete. There is a lot of support however in the lectures I would like to see longer lectures and I would prefer more interactive sessions instead of classroom based learning.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Very well structured and aligned with the bank. A lot of things I have learnt at work have been transferable to my university work and vise versa.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Bank of England to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a brilliant place to work. Very prestigious, everyone is very friendly and as a young apprentice you are given a lot of responsibility and working with real projects and real issues.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bank of England?
Be ambitious and it is good to be scared and nervous, the bank is amazing at making you feel welcome and getting you introduced to everyone.
