Business Management (Publications/Retail Environment) Review

My role is split between Publications and Retail Environment - in the Publications division, I mainly take part in translation projects where I proof PDF/physical manuals. I also deliver weekly/monthly reports, manage info to do with the FRT Service Reminder System, file purchase orders, and upload MaRIS information.
Within the Retail Environment team, I manage brand reviews for Dream Dealers across Europe, and also select/design/schedule canteen displays within the HME office.

Yes, I was often given projects to complete on my own, and oftentimes I would cover for members of the team if they were not available. From Oct-Dec, I was given quite a lot more responsibility as two members of my team had been promoted, leading me and the remaining two members to have to split the tasks between the three of us.

I have improved my general organization and communication, both of which have been very useful when managing multiple projects at once, whether it be multiple ongoing brand reviews in different countries, or multiple translation projects at once.
I have also developed my analytical skills, especially paired with Excel, as throughout the placement I have had to take large amounts of data and convert them into comprehensible, useful info.

I had ample support - My supervisors were generally available to help me whenever I was unsure of anything. In the beginning, however, there was a little bit of a learning curve, and after the previous undergraduate left there were a few items that I had to learn on the go - all in all, I did feel quite supported, though.

The company culture was quite friendly, and I felt at home most of the time. I do think that there could have been a few more associate initiatives that didn't include simple barbecue days (though I'm not complaining), but generally I enjoyed my time at Honda.

I enjoyed my placement quite a lot, honestly. I learned a lot more than I expected to, and I do think that I've come out of it having learned a lot more about the corporate world, and how I do within it, and how to improve most of all.
