Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

On a day-to-day basis the role guarantees some amount of legal administration work. A great way to describe this role would be a "hybrid between a legal assistant and a paralegal".
You will be involved in administrative tasks such as searching for documents, legal budgeting and invoice management, work allocations, inbox management, outsourcing to external counsel, etcetera.
However, there is also ample opportunity for meaningful legal work. You will undertake legal research, review contractual documentation, manage stakeholders, review and advise on Non-Disclosure Agreements, support on our Pan-European projects, and much, much more.
You may also give presentations to the wider business, and be responsible for the management of online systems (such as our Contract Lifecycle Management system).

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

You are given plenty of independence and responsibility during your placement. A decent amount is provided at the start, which continues to grow throughout the year. You will take lead on many projects and be the point of contact for key stakeholders and external counsel.
You are also privy to high importance documentation, reporting, finance, and compliance matters.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Whilst undertaking this placement you will develop a multitude of legal skills, including document review, legal research, and the provision of legal advice.
However, an underrated aspect of this job is the soft skill development. Whilst sounding simple, this placement will genuinely set you up for the rest of you career:
-How to properly send e-mails
-How to manage stakeholders and expectations
-How to provide legal advice effectively (laymans terms)
-How to deal with conflict, delay, or disagreement
-How to work effectively as a team, both in a solely legal and also project environment
And MUCH, much more!

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture within the Legal Team is excellent. You are encouraged to be yourself and everyone is friendly and humorous. Everyone brings their own unique perspective and personality to the team.
At the company, there's also plenty of friendly faces. However, the general company is a little less hospitable than our team.
