Business Intelligence Undergraduate Review

My role adopts a project-based approach, supporting the delivery of data, digital, and technology initiatives across the business. I work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business challenges, and develop solutions that enable teams to make better use of data. This includes preparing and cleansing data, building interactive dashboards and visualisations, and presenting findings back to stakeholders as part of project delivery and handover. I also support digital literacy initiatives by promoting the effective use of AI tools and helping colleagues adopt new technologies to improve productivity and decision-making. The role provides exposure to emerging areas such as machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence, allowing me to investigate potential use cases and opportunities for innovation. Through collaboration with a range of teams, I help translate business needs into practical, data-driven solutions while developing my technical, analytical, and communication skills.

Yes, I was project lead on multiple projects, overseeing and taking responsibility of those projects form beginning to end. This included high visibility projects in Europe. My team is quite small so independent working is very important and I was given responsibilities and roles as if I was not an undergraduate.

Yes, I have learnt technical skills such as Power BI and Fabric Notebook which is more on the data science and analysis side, and I had little to no experience with prior. I have also developed my analytical thinking and python coding during this placement as well as soft skills like public speaking.

I recievied lots of support from my team and division. Although, it is a small team, I was never left in a situation where I felt like I either needed more guidance or wasn't given enough support. Even when my manager was away, other division members ensured I had plenty of support.

I enjoyed Honda's working environment, everyone was always willing to answer any questions I had. All associates I have interacted with throughout the year were friendly; overall, a positive culture and a good environment.

I really enjoyed my placement, I feel like it gave me the opportunity to look into what it would be like working for a global company in the future, especially in the data analysis field. I have learned a lot, particularly from my manager and wider team which I am grateful for. It will be sad to leave Honda but it was a great experience that I would recommend.
