Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Day-to-day activities included:
- maintain a log of requests for legal support and acknowledgement of new requests that come into the legal inbox.
- support the legal secretary on cosec activities including POA's and Corporate Governance.
- reviewing and drafting NDA's, Statement of Works, Supply of services agreements.
- undertake legal research on EU Directives, regulations that could impact Honda or ad hoc queries that come from the business.
- carry out monthly and quarterly compliance reports on litigation across Europe and AME.
- manage the accounting administration for PO's and invoicing.
- manage the Legal & Compliance SharePoint and internal SharePoint.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, from day 1 I was given a range of responsibilities including presenting at the annual Compliance conference and undertaking legal research. I was always supported by an experienced lawyer who I could ask questions to and would review my work before it was sent to the business. The legal team are very busy but will always make time to help with my professional and personal development.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Honda has a corporate, formal culture. All associates are respectful. The Legal team are very friendly, easy to get on with and open to support in my development.

I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, and my practica and professional skills have developed hugely. I have really enjoyed seeing how an in-house legal team operates.
