PMO & Budget Management Supporting Review

During my placement year at Honda Motor Europe Ltd, I worked within the Information Systems division. This experience provided me with a unique opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge from university to real-world business operations.
My main responsibilities were assisting with budget events, tracking project statuses, maintaining contract records, and supporting financial forecasting. Throughout this year, I developed various of technical skills such as data analysis, contract management and MS Office skills in the role. in Excel. I also participated in monthly project recharge approvals, which helped me better understand financial discrepancies and budgeting practices in a corporate context.

In project management, I took on my first individual responsibility of managing project files. With guidance and training from my line manager, I developed a clear understanding of how to track and update the statuses of various projects on the company’s platform. As part of my role, I created an Excel form to consolidate and manage all contracts, which allowed for more efficient tracking and monitoring of project statuses.

During this placement year, I have strengthen my MS office skills where I need to use Excel and PowerPoint for daily tasks. I also improve my confidence when I am presenting the report to the top management. On budget management perspective, I improve my analytical skill on data and develop my business insight.

During the start of my placement, I received internal training from my line manager that significantly enhanced my understanding of my role and department. This training included insights into the organization chart and the Investment Policy Approval process, which helped me grasp the procedures for checking project progression and making informed judgments based on the project's status. Additionally, my manager provided Excel training, focusing on familiarizing me with essential formulas, such as the VLOOKUP function, which I will be using in my daily tasks.

Honda culture is very friendly to the intern where we can ask any question from the HR and our manager. Everyone is really helpful, and I love work in here.

I really enjoy this placement because I gain a lot of opportunity to work with different people. This further expand my global insight.
