Business operations support Review

Throughout my placement I was rotated around different areas for me to gain exposure of all operational areas such as Inbound bookings management , where one has to coordinate with external carriers and communicate regularly with the customer to serve their needs on time. Using MS office, WLM JDA, Blue yonder for operational performance reviews and tracking warehouse productivity. Organizing and running intra-site management townhalls.

Yes, this placement exposed me to different aspects of the organization from operations to management duties , interacting with the customers to best serve their requirements, undertake key health & safety projects by collaborating with graduates on other sites to present the ideas to Senior leadership team. producing crucial reports that provide data-driven insights on the warehouse performance and productivity. Adhering to strict health & safety compliances whilst enforcing them on site was crucial as well.

Significantly developed my communication skills both professionally and personally, working in fast-paced high pressure environment was something I was exposed to and shaped my ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, time management and build strong relations with stakeholders. Also my ability to confidently present and speaking in public has undergone a transformation, Lastly, My IT and digital skills were greatly enhanced by using multiple tools and softwares every day .

My line manager and team have been nothing but supportive throughout my journey, helping me at every step during my initial phase to help me ease into the role, constant communication and 121s were highly helpful not just from performance perspective but also personal development planning. From senior managers to my colleagues , everyone encourages a learning positive working environment . Also, the constant support from the graduate program manager was always reassuring .

DHL SC encompasses a very positive working environment for all, from training to engagement & involvement sessions to instill creative and fun elements beyond mere business affairs makes this place different to work, one is always given equal and fair opportunities to further upskill and undertake any training apart from their job roles to develop personal or professional skills. DHL focuses greatly on a safe working environment to ensure a healthy work place.

This placement has been a great learning yet fun experience for me , to be able to apply my knowledge from my degree to a real-world environment is so fascinating. The supply chain environment is also very demanding that makes the role even interesting and no one day is same. DHL has instilled the culture of 'work hard, play hard' very well. My role and contribution the organization was beyond business operations.
