Industrial Placement Review

Working in an ambulance control tower, dealing and processing with cancelled or aborted journeys; coordinating with subcontractors to validate accurate data and contacting hospitals to contact them over delays in journeys. I work directly with a colleague, and use Excel, and APTS to work through a list of data, and validate it off.

I was given just as much as responsibility as anyone else in my office, and quickly felt important and necessary. I learned fast, and was given more and more responsibility as time went by.

I've developed and learned so many skills on my placement. On my placement so far, I have had to be an excellent communicator to succeed in my role. I have had to be very digitally confident in my role so far, as I have been introduced to a number of new programmes which I was unfamiliar with, and my work is solely done using these. Being a team player is key in any role, and I have to work with colleagues to help them with their tasks, just as I have received help from others.

I was given someone to work with directly, which was massively helpful, and gave me constant support and guidance.

The company culture and atmosphere was generally very close, and everyone felt close and friendly to each other.

I enjoyed my placement, I liked the people who I worked with, and you are given plenty of opportunities to view wider parts of the company through site tours and training days throughout the year, which were both enjoyable, as well as building relationships with others on placement years and graduate programmes.
