Analysing data from Hiltons ESG platform. Identifying areas of opportunity for utility savings. Implementing the EMEA-wide environmental performance program. Creating data analytics to analyse cost and utility consumption across 250+ hotels. Collating sustainability best practices and creating resources to assist Engineering teams at the hotels. Supporting the wider team and other corporate functions with sustainability advice.

Yes, it exceeded my expectations. Hilton ensures that interns across all departments are responsible for their own projects and not just administrative tasks. During my manager's one-month leave, I took on my greatest amount of responsibility as the sole member of the EMEA Environment team. Although I had the support of my very helpful team, I was entrusted with the responsibility of releasing our monthly EMEA-wide environmental performance report on my own. This is just one of many opportunities where I have felt trusted to handle significant projects.

I have become much more confident with public speaking; my team has allowed me to speak on quarterly calls with 100+ Engineers as well as presenting at events with external attendees on our ESG strategy. I have developed my Excel skills and had the opportunity to carry out training on PowerBI, and was then tasked to put this into practice when building a dashboard to flag anomalous utility consumption. As a university student I had not done much professional networking previously, but attending events such as the EMEX convention and a SaveMoneyCutCarbon talk in London have allowed me to push myself out of my comfort zone and create new industry connections. I have also become a much more confident person as a result of my time at Hilton.

I have felt incredibly supported in many ways. My line manager's managerial style has been perfect for me, helping me push myself out of my comfort zone while checking in on me weekly during our catch-ups. I was also allocated a mentor for my internship, who was a member of my team. They checked in on me on a more personal level and helped me explore my future career plans. Additionally, I benefited from Hilton's wealth of training resources on Hilton University and our free access to LinkedIn Learning.

So incredible! After hearing about my friends' internship experiences, I believe Hilton has the best workplace culture. I have thoroughly enjoyed bumping into colleagues from various corporate functions around the office and getting to know them. Hilton ensures that its team members are treated well, hosting events throughout the year to celebrate everyone's hard work. Some of my favorite events included our annual ball at Hilton London on Park Lane and the celebration for reaching 200 million Hilton Honors members. Everyone has been so welcoming, and their support has been one of the biggest reasons my year has been so successful.

I couldn't have hoped for a better experience. My placement has confirmed that sustainability is the exact field I want to pursue. This year has been one of the best of my life, and I don't want to leave Hilton. I've taken on amazing projects, received incredible support from my team, which has helped me grow both professionally and personally, and made lifelong friends. Hilton is truly the best place for a placement.
