Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
On a day to day basis, the vacation scheme involved sitting in a Disputes seat and engaging in legal research tasks, sitting in client calls and team meetings. We also took part in focus workshops covering specific practice areas, lead by associates in each team. There were many social opportunities, and time within our calendars to organise meetings with solicitors in other practice areas.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The early talent team facilitated a huge range and diversity of workshops about the different areas of the business. This gave a great sense of the types of opportunities each practice area offers, and how junior lawyers can get involved in responsibilities early on.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I had the opportunity to draft research notes and took part in document review. This helped me to develop my research skills as well as drafting skills. The multiple opportunities to meet with other lawyers, meant I could develop my communication skills. Through the group presentation element, I was also able to build teamwork skills and collaborate positively with other group members.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The atmosphere has been incredibly welcoming, friendly and open. Every associate, trainee and partner that I have spoken to has been extremely enthusiastic and generous with their time. Taylor Wessing clearly emphasise an inclusive and nurturing culture across their entire business.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I had a fantastic time on the vacation scheme. I can't speak highly enough of the early talent team and it was a brilliant environment to learn about the firm.

I would definitely encourage any student interest in commercial law to apply to Taylor Wessing. The application process requires alot of preparation and applicants should research the law firm in detail to give themselves the best chance.
