Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

The virtual experience was conducted seamlessly by the amazing graduate recruitment team. They had planned excellent back-to-back talks covering all of the firm's core sectors and practice areas which were informative and an excellent opportunity to ask specific questions. I also had a few tasks to complete which provided me with exposure to real-life work that trainees would undertake on a daily basis at Taylor Wessing. Overall, the virtual experience was excellent.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It was thoroughly enjoyable and interesting. Before the placement, I knew quite a lot about Taylor Wessing from my research, but the placement delved further into this and I was exposed to all areas of the business, from the graduate recruitment team, to the tech team and the legal team. It was great to see how they all work together to make Taylor Wessing as successful as it is.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to use both WestLaw and Practical Law to search for legal cases and guidance. I also developed my communication and interpersonal skills through having interactions with many different employees at Taylor Wessing. I developed my analytical skills and attention to detail through performing my practice area task, and my group task enhanced my team-working ability.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Taylor Wessing had a great company culture and general atmosphere, which was evident even virtually. It was a culture where everyone respected each other and their ideas, and it seemed like a positive, enjoyable place to work. The importance of the core values of the firm were evident throughout the week, and it was obvious the extent to which they care about diversity and inclusion.

To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?

I thoroughly enjoyed my virtual experience. The graduate recruitment team made an excellent program which simulated life and tasks inside the office as best as they could be done virtually.
