Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The role involves leading a sensory panel, making up of the samples to be analysed, conducting the tests, data collection, data analysis, report creation and debriefing if required. Guidance/recommendation from the data is given to the development team on how to progress with their project.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
You are expected to be able to lead the panel on your own and be able to write the reports. You take on real time projects to help the business make future decisions, this may be in the development of products or cost saving etc

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I fully enjoyed my placement at Premier Foods. Everyone was so welcoming and was able to see a side of the food industry which university does not show. Many opportunities arose during my placement which my team and management supported and guided me through to expand my knowledge of sensory science and the industry.
