Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The scheme was organised around getting to know the firm better. We had numerous talks that highlighted different sectors and also opportunities to talk to senior members of the firm. We were also assessed on a practice area task, group task and an assessed trainee task. We also had free time to schedule our own catch-ups with members of the firm we wanted to learn more from.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was really enlightening to learn how Taylor Wessing solicitors conducted themselves and made central pillars of their work. It was really informative to learn about the firm business model via the podcast which focused on the values of the firm. We also had the opportunity to talk to different practice areas and so fully understood what roles were available.

The scheme definitely allowed me to develop my proactivity and organisation. As it was virtual and only one week, it was a packed schedule and it was essential you organised your time to make the best use of what was available.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Extremely friendly, warm and supportive. Though only being in the firm for a week, all senior members made me feel seen and heard and were eager to answer my questions. On top of this, everyone is incredibly intelligent and inquisitive and the conversations I had were always insightful. It was a lovely atmosphere to be in, even if only virtually.

Make sure to be yourself, they look for personalities that can enrich the culture that is already established. Also, make sure to do your research into the firm and the innovation and new projects they are involved with so that you are able to hold conversations with people throughout the firm.
