Treasury Undergraduate Review

My daily tasks involved using Barclays to download reports and make payments, reconciling our accounts, using Excel to forecast the cashflow and manage our cash. I also make proposals to take out multi million pound loans almost every day. I was responsible for banking cheques, organising the assessment centre and looking after the finance inbox.
I was involved in a system migration and completed my university project on a project to be taken forward by Honda.

I was given responsibility of important tasks that impacted our numbers and customers, but not important enough in the way that if something went wrong then it could be easily fixed by managers.

I have developed my excel skills a lot, along with my general knowledge of finance and treasury. I have had the opportunity to work with different personalities and departments, and worked on my presentation skills

I received a lot of guidance and support from my team when it came to wanting to learn more about another part of the business or more about the market itself. They were very supportive with my placement project. However I was micromanaged, and my manager did not provide me with much support or guidance. They passed on manager level tasks onto me, and the lack of communication, reliability and responsibility they had impacted my placement experience a lot.

The company culture is great - they are friendly and understanding

I enjoyed my placement because it was my first corporate job, I learned so much about the financial services sector and each day was different.
