Supporting NPD/EPD through recipe creation, generating costings and nutritional information, benchmarking, creating samples for internal tastings & consumer testing, and attending factory trials.

Once you're trained on all the equipment/processes, you are very much responsible for your own workload. Providing that your work is being completed on time, you are able to organise your own workload in a way that suits you. That said, the team is incredibly supportive and everyone is so approachable and so if you are struggling or need some assistance, help is never far away.

Without a doubt. I've been able to learn new skills including how to independently use large scale pilot plant equipment and have learnt so much about ingredient functionality, thermal processing, and the NPD process as a whole. I've also been able to develop my softer skills including resilience to overcome challenges and my organisation/prioritisation as NPD often comes with conflicting and ever changes deadlines and priorities.

Between my manager, my mentor, and everyone else in the department, help and support was never far away - you just have to ask. In addition to my job role, I wanted to learn more about other areas of the business including sensory, technical, specifications to name a few, and I was given the support required to be able to shadow those other departments.

I enjoyed my time at Premier Foods. I've come away with a new found appreciation for the work that goes into NPD/EPD and lots of new skills. It has been a worthwhile year putting theory into practice from my degree and I'm thankful to the company for giving me this opportunity.
