I work on live projects, developing recipes that are nutritionally and cost aligned. I conduct shelf life testing on a wide range of products. I attend factory trials and production runs.

Yes I got to work on live projects, which expanded my knowledge of the npd process. Additionally, it helped me put theory into practice, gaining real-life examples of how to manage timelines and ingredient functionality. I also have to conduct and co-ordinate all the shelf life data for my team, which was an great opportunity to develop my technical knowledge and time management skills

I have developed my soft skills such as confidence presenting in front of large groups of people. Additionally, my communication skills have been enhanced, getting the experience to communicate with a wide variety of teams in the business. I have developed better time management skills, learning how to manage workload and prioritise tasks. I have also gained hard skills such as better written and IT skills, aswell as technical knowledge.

I had regular 1:1 meetings with my line manager which was very useful to get advice on anything. Additionally, I had a mentor who was there to answer any questions I had. I always had guidance and someone who I could get advice from, often consulting other teams for their expertise.

The work environment was very friendly and welcoming. Everyone was very approachable and always there to help if I needed it.

I loved my year at Premier, it taught me so much and enabled me to develop work-ready skills which I will take into my future job. I would encourage anyone to do a placement here as the experience you get is invaluable and will benefit you for the final year of university but also any future jobs.
