Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The role varies depending on the project I am working on at the time. These roles have included undertaking assessments of existing structures, doing calculations and writing reports.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given quite a lot of responsibility as I was working on projects in the team and some of the same tasks the graduate and assistant engineers were doing

I have developed by engineering skills, learning how what I have learnt at university is applied in real projects. I have developed my communication skills, working in an engineering team and have also learnt to understand the terminology used in this specific part of the industry.

I received a lot of support from the whole team, but especially my line manager who I had meetings with every few weeks to discuss my progress

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very friendly. Everyone, no matter how high up in the company they were, would talk to the younger engineers and treat them as equals.
