Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
During month-end I have a lot of reports to distribute and presentations to prepare. Throughout the rest of the month I receive a lot of work through emails and also am part of various projects with other members of my team or across other teams in the company.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given lots of responsibility. I have been responsible for projects with members of the company who are very highly regarded. I also have taken complete ownership of reports and their distribution and have been given the same level of responsibility as everybody else in my team.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my excel skills as I now know how to create a report, and am familiar with lots of advanced formulas. I also have learnt lots of excel shortcuts that can help me in the future. I have learnt how to structure my working day so that I can get everything completed and how to prioritise tasks to ensure that any important work is completed as soon as possible. I have developed my team-working skills as often I have to collaborate with members of my team to complete a project.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I have received a lot of support and whenever I got stuck I always received the help I needed to understand what was going wrong - not just from my line manager but any member of the team that I needed help from.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The atmosphere at Hilton is really friendly and everybody is extremely nice to one another. It is very relaxed and there are quarterly social events that lots of people turn up to. Overall the environment is great and the opposite of what I expected from such a well-known corporate company.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have really enjoyed my internship and will be sad to leave. My team are extremely friendly and the work I do is quite interesting and has definitely helped me in terms of knowing what I want to do in the future. I have also made great friendships with some of the other interns and I have spent lots of time outside of my 9-5 job socialising with other team members.

Make sure you be yourself - whilst academics and understanding the job role are important, ensure that you still show your personality whether this is during a video interview or an assessment centre.
