Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I work as a Trainee Product / Garment Technologist on Womenswear. I assist the senior tech in fit sessions and support my team with quality investigations.
I collaborate with designers, buying teams and other garment technologists on the daily to ensure the best quality products are reaching Primark's customers.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

From the start I was put on a project to manage myself. On this project I was the main point of communication between technicians at a testing lab and Primark.
I was given many opportunities to present and always felt my input and opinion was welcomed, appreciated and valued.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

My communication skills have greatly improved since the start of the year since I work across so many teams and suppliers on the daily. Also, with many opportunities to present my confidence has grown a huge amount.
My technical knowledge has improved exponentially. Primark has been such an excellent environment with a lovely team of people to learn from.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received lots of support from my direct team and the People & Culture Team during my placement. I always felt I could reach out to my buddy or line manager if I required more guidance or support with my work.
