Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Pulling trends for the season, and constant research on what other brands are doing. Pulling colours for garments and then lots of designing prints and logos.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes i was given lots of responsibility during my time here. I have presenting my ideas to my whole department and i have designed ranges for certain teams too.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt so many new skills while working here including lots of adobe training with experts and also my team taught me how to do proper CADS and prints. I have also developed on my research skills for example learning how to use WGSN properly. And a major skill i have developed is presentation skills, doing it so often has given me a lot more confidence in presenting.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Lots of support from the design team was given. We have a manager and a buddy for when we join. My buddy makes sure she checks in with me every day and we also have 2 dedicated meetings a week to ensure i am on track and everything is clear.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

General atmosphere is amazing, everyone on my department is lovely and open to get to know the placement students. Company culture is great too, Primark has a lot of support for anyone if you need it

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have loved my placement at Primark its been the best thing i couldve done for myself and my career. i have been given so many opportunities here. i am also now excited for my final year to show off the skills i have learnt
