Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The Early Insight into Technology 2021 provided me with a taste of what to expect pursuing a fintech career in JP Morgan. I took part in several coding challenges, such as programming a sanction screening algorithm and a data query program to find employees who meet specific criteria.
I also got the chance to meet some of the J.P. Morgan employees and ask some questions.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
What really surprised me was the opportunities give to non-computer science students. This is very encouraging as J.P. Morgan looks to train software engineers with diverse backgrounds. There is a wide range of roles, from security to app development or data analysis. It is a great place to start a fintech career If you are still unsure of your career path as a technologist.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I believe I have learned more about tech in the banking sector and what to expect if I work in one of these roles. Additionally, as I'm not a computer science student (I have learned how to program on my self) I got a feel of how to program with tight deadlines.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company really emphasises team-work activity and encourages its worker to participate in activities outside work such as Hackazones which are organised by themself. J.P. Morgan gives you the chance to work on pro-bono work.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I found the insight extremely useful and would recommend any non-computer science degrees students to apply. It's a great opportunity for coding lovers to face the programing challenges for two days whilst learning new things and getting to know new people.

Prepare a CV that will leave the recruiter perplexed. Try and learn things about the company and its culture. Finally, if you are from a non-computer science background but love programming don't hesitate in applying, J.P. Morgan offers great tech positions to non-tech or computer science backgrounds.
