Sweet Treats New Product Development Student Technologist Placement Review

Each day is different on the job depending on workload and project status. A lot of my time has been spent doing benchwork, and going on trials for new products. Quite a lot of time has also been dedicated to meetings, calls and doing admin work surrounding projects. There is also often time to do innovation work for any new ideas I think of.

Yes I have often been given responsibility. I have run my own projects, taking ownership and responsibility over the course of the projects. I have also taken initiative to take more responsibility over other projects, and through asking for more workload at times.

I felt as if I was supported throughout the entire placement. My mentor and manager have been amazing at supporting me personally and professionally and I have constantly felt as if no question I had was ever silly. I have been guided by my team and the wider team I am apart of which has been incredibly important to my future career prospects and development.

Very transparent and supportive, offering me countless opportunities and making me feel highly involved. By the end of the year, I do not feel as if I have been treated as less due to me being a student, instead I have been fully invested in and involved by the entire company where applicable. Premier Foods feels like a growing company that is willing to invest in its future.

I highly enjoyed my placement and felt as if I have had the entire work experience that I will do post-graduation. This year has been heavily impactful towards my future career development and I am very thankful to Premier Foods for offering me all the opportunities that I have been given.
